Melvin, owner of the Actors Playground Theater shares with a documentary film crew just how hard it is to run a theater in North Hollywood, CA, especially after he finds out that his landlord is raising his rent, and he may not be able to pay it. Series Debut!
Deep Financial Waters
Melvin and the NoHo crew are face to face with some hard financial times. Melvin pursues the advice of his cousin Albert who has trouble grasping the severity of the situation. To add to their misfortune Martin, a long time acting teacher at the playground, abruptly quits. Leaving Melvin to take the helm as the new sage of the stage!
Zip Zap Zop
Melvin’s recent good fortune has not come without its share of problems. Needing a replacement for the vacant tuesday night spot Melvin now finds himself in between a rock and a hard place. The rock being Lori, a hot tempered acting coach, and the hard place being Arthur, an acting teacher who approaches his craft with open arms... literally! To win the spot these two potential candidates must survive an ancient theatre ritual for settling disputes known as Zip Zap Zop!
Meet Joe Smith
With the continued threat of making rent on the horizon. Melvin has high hopes when he rents the theater out to Phillip, a aspiring actor from the great state of Utah, for a one man show. But a scheduling snafu creates some interesting challenges on opening night.
Melvin Needs A Date
Melvin, feeling the increased pressure from the need to pay rent, is boiling over with tension. Sarah, noticing the added stress to the office, encourages Melvin to pursue other... romantic ventures. After much protest Melvin agrees to give on-line dating a try. Under the direction of Melvin’s new “dating guru” Sarah, he reluctantly logs in to join the dating class of the 21st century. There are many fish in the sea... but which of them will land in Melvin’s Net?
Melvin Dates!
Melvin, giving in to Sarah’s suggestion, signs up for an on-line dating web-site. Much to his chagrin he realizes that the dating site, through there many compatibility assessments, has set him up with his perfect match... his ex-wife! Reluctantly, Melvin aggress to go on this date and realizes a thing or two about himself and his past relationship. Meanwhile, back at the Actors Playground, Sarah has her hands full trying to motivate Carl into getting some work done. Carl’s will is strong! Will Sarah be able to find the right stuff to get Carl’s motor running again?
The Bake Sale
It is a race against time as Melvin, taking the bull by the horns, derives ways to earn a little last minute cash in order to pay rent. His schemes do not go un-noticed by Sarah who finds Melvin’s practices to be a little... below board. The big surprise comes when Ron Meadows, the landlord and owner of the building, stops by to take some measurements and reveal new news about his intentions. How will Melvin and the NoHo crew react in our exciting and much anticipated season finale!

Mick Montgomery immediately jumped head first into producing, writing and directing at the young age of 19. Originally, Mick wrote, produced and directed strictly for the stage, but also wrote feature film called “Getting Out” that eventually burned out in Pre-Production. Mick jumped into Cinema by writing, starring and co-producing the short film, “Final Scene” with NoHo Cinematographer, Jesse Kobayashi. Mick was a co-founder and director of the Writers Workshop at the Actors Workout Studio from 2004 – 2007. The workshop produced six shows for the stage of original material. Mick has had 13 of his original plays produced for the stage, and has also appeared in stage productions including the 2002 critical Gem “FOOLS” at the Actor’s Co-Op Theater in Los Angeles and also on screen. Recently his work could be seen in Jim Carey’s “Yes Man” and Ron Howard’s Academy Award nominated film “Frost / Nixon”. “The NoHo Show” is a labor of love for Mick as many of the stories are based on his own experiences producing independent theater in North Hollywood at the Actor’s Workout Studio. Scott Phillips is one of the Creators, Producers, and Directors of “The NoHo Show”. His hard work and dedication has helped form the webisode into the successful show that it is today. Scott Phillips first got his start studying film at Azusa Pacific University while Producing and Directing a weekly broadcast show called “Friday WrapUp”. After that, Scott went on to direct several short films including the award winning project “The Boy and the Ball”. Scott now has teamed up with colleagues Mick Montgomery and John Schimke to produce “The NoHo Show”, an effort that has won Scott “Best Produced Webisode” from the Producers Guild of America.Scott Phillips continues to progress his passion for storytelling and entertainment through the continued effort of utilizing his skills to bring funny or insightful situations to the “Silver” or “LCD” Screen.

John Schimke is AFI Alum and has been working as a Producer/Director for about 8 years. Some of his current projects include 36 Parables, which is a series of short cinematic modern adaptations of Parables from the Bible. Through 36 Parables he has the opportunity to collaborated with Pink the Series Writer, Mike Maden. John enjoys being a creative partner in The NoHo Show and looks forward to the opportunities episodic web shows bring.

The man behind Melvin, Rob Mello's theatrical career spans both Chicago and Los Angeles. In fact, Rob knows a thing or two about producing independent theater. He recently directed and produced an improvised show called The BED and THE BED 2 in North Hollywood, CA. He has also appeared in numerous film and television projects. He is currently the VP of Development for Hazy Mills Productions and has produced or developed pilots and scripts for FOX, FX, The CW, Showtime and CBS.Rob has also founded an acting school in Los Angeles, which you can read more about by visiting the www.therobertmellostudio.com.

Eric Seppala sang, danced and acted his way though childhood, growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area. A degree in Theater Arts led him to the University of California at Irvine.In addition to acting both onstage and in front of the camera, Eric’s love of music has brought him into many different areas of the arts. He toured with Debbie Reynolds, The Crew Cuts and The Four Tones, was a member of the Grammy nominated L.A. Jazz Choir, recorded singing and speaking voices for the animated version of Oliver Twist for French television and has also been in featured in various failed TV pilots, low budget films, recordings and local theater productions.Throughout the 90’s Eric wrote and performed the satirical Terry and Eric shows alongside writing partner Terry Larson. His critically acclaimed solo cabaret and one man shows have been seen at The Cinegrill, The Dresden, The1020 Club, and the legendary Rose Tattoo. In 2001, the Celebration Theater invited him to stage his cabaret show as a theatrical event entitled “Eric Seppala is Who?”. More info on Eric at www.ericseppala.com.

Her Chicago theatre work includes The All-Female Bonanza at Live Bait Theatre and Chamber Music at the Transient Theatre. Her Los Angeles theatre credits include Blue Window, The Women, The Red Coat and her one-woman show Open to the Public. Irene can be seen in lots of commercials and in episodes of Brothers & Sisters, Friends, Will & Grace, and Scrubs. Mick Montgomery immediately jumped head first into producing, writing and directing at the young age of 19. Originally, Mick wrote, produced and directed strictly for the stage, but also wrote feature film called “Getting Out” that eventually burned out in Pre-Production. Mick jumped into Cinema by writing, starring and co-producing the short film, “Final Scene” with NoHo Cinematographer, Jesse Kobayashi. Mick was a co-founder and director of the Writers Workshop at the Actors Workout Studio from 2004 – 2007. The workshop produced six shows for the stage of original material. Mick has had 13 of his original plays produced for the stage, and has also appeared in stage productions including the 2002 critical Gem “FOOLS” at the Actor’s Co-Op Theater in Los Angeles and also on screen. Recently his work could be seen in Jim Carey’s “Yes Man” and Ron Howard’s Academy Award nominated film “Frost / Nixon”. “The NoHo Show” is a labor of love for Mick as many of the stories are based on his own experiences producing independent theater in North Hollywood at the Actor’s Workout Studio. Scott Phillips is one of the Creators, Producers, and Directors of “The NoHo Show”. His hard work and dedication has helped form the webisode into the successful show that it is today. Scott Phillips first got his start studying film at Azusa Pacific University while Producing and Directing a weekly broadcast show called “Friday WrapUp”. After that, Scott went on to direct several short films including the award winning project “The Boy and the Ball”. Some of his current projects include 36 Parables, which is a series of short cinematic modern adaptations of Parables from the Bible. Through 36 Parables he has the opportunity to collaborated with Pink the Series Writer, Mike Maden. John enjoys being a creative partner in The NoHo Show and looks forward to the opportunities episodic web shows bring.

The man behind Melvin, Rob Mello's theatrical career spans both Chicago and Los Angeles. In fact, Rob knows a thing or two about producing independent theater. He recently directed and produced an improvised show called The BED and THE BED 2 in North Hollywood, CA. He has also appeared in numerous film and television projects. Eric Seppala sang, danced and acted his way though childhood, growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area. A degree in Theater Arts led him to the University of California at Irvine.In addition to acting both onstage and in front of the camera, Eric’s love of music has brought him into many different areas of the arts. He toured with Debbie Reynolds, The Crew Cuts and The Four Tones, was a member of the Grammy nominated L.A. Jazz Choir, recorded singing and speaking voices for the animated version of Oliver Twist for French television and has also been in featured in various failed TV pilots, low budget films, recordings and local theater productions.Throughout the 90’s Eric wrote and performed the satirical Terry and Eric shows alongside writing partner Terry Larson. His critically acclaimed solo cabaret and one man shows have been seen at The Cinegrill, The Dresden, The1020 Club, and the legendary Rose Tattoo. Her Chicago theatre work includes The All-Female Bonanza at Live Bait Theatre and Chamber Music at the Transient Theatre. Her Los Angeles theatre credits include Blue Window, The Women, The Red Coat and her one-woman show Open to the Public. Irene can be seen in lots of commercials and in episodes of Brothers & Sisters, Friends, Will & Grace, and Scrubs. Scott Phillips is one of the Creators, Producers, and Directors of “The NoHo Show”. His hard work and dedication has helped form the webisode into the successful show that it is today. Scott Phillips first got his start studying film at Azusa Pacific University while Producing and Directing a weekly broadcast show called “Friday WrapUp”. After that, Scott went on to direct several short films including the award winning project “The Boy and the Ball”. Scott now has teamed up with colleagues Mick Montgomery and John Schimke to produce “The NoHo Show”, an effort that has won Scott “Best Produced Webisode” from the Producers Guild of America.Scott Phillips continues to progress his passion for storytelling and entertainment through the continued effort of utilizing his skills to bring funny or insightful situations to the “Silver” or “LCD” Screen.

John Schimke is AFI Alum and has been working as a Producer/Director for about 8 years. Some of his current projects include 36 Parables, which is a series of short cinematic modern adaptations of Parables from the Bible. Through 36 Parables he has the opportunity to collaborated with Pink the Series Writer, Mike Maden. John enjoys being a creative partner in The NoHo Show and looks forward to the opportunities episodic web shows bring.

The man behind Melvin, Rob Mello's theatrical career spans both Chicago and Los Angeles. In fact, Rob knows a thing or two about producing independent theater. He recently directed and produced an improvised show called The BED and THE BED 2 in North Hollywood, CA. He has also appeared in numerous film and television projects. Eric Seppala sang, danced and acted his way though childhood, growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area. A degree in Theater Arts led him to the University of California at Irvine.In addition to acting both onstage and in front of the camera, Eric’s love of music has brought him into many different areas of the arts. He toured with Debbie Reynolds, The Crew Cuts and The Four Tones, was a member of the Grammy nominated L.A. Jazz Choir, recorded singing and speaking voices for the animated version of Oliver Twist for French television and has also been in featured in various failed TV pilots, low budget films, recordings and local theater productions.Throughout the 90’s Eric wrote and performed the satirical Terry and Eric shows alongside writing partner Terry Larson. His critically acclaimed solo cabaret and one man shows have been seen at The Cinegrill, The Dresden, The1020 Club, and the legendary Rose Tattoo. Her Los Angeles theatre credits include Blue Window, The Women, The Red Coat and her one-woman show Open to the Public. Irene can be seen in lots of commercials and in episodes of Brothers & Sisters, Friends, Will & Grace, and Scrubs. Mick Montgomery immediately jumped head first into producing, writing and directing at the young age of 19. Originally, Mick wrote, produced and directed strictly for the stage, but also wrote feature film called “Getting Out” that eventually burned out in Pre-Production. Mick jumped into Cinema by writing, starring and co-producing the short film, “Final Scene” with NoHo Cinematographer, Jesse Kobayashi. Mick was a co-founder and director of the Writers Workshop at the Actors Workout Studio from 2004 – 2007. The workshop produced six shows for the stage of original material. Mick has had 13 of his original plays produced for the stage, and has also appeared in stage productions including the 2002 critical Gem “FOOLS” at the Actor’s Co-Op Theater in Los Angeles and also on screen.
