When little Lucia's mother discovered her child was deaf, she was determined to do whatever she could to provide an education for her. This would prove to be a daunting task, since Lucia and her mother live in rural Mexico, and until recently there was no school in the country dedicated to educating deaf children.
This is the story of Lucia and others like her who have found their way to Tehuacan, Mexico and the "Casa del Ninos Sordo", Mexico's first school exclusively for deaf children. This is also a story of how a simple idea, determined parents and dedicated volunteers banded together to create something remarkable. in doing so they gave these kids hope for a viable future, where there was none before.

Mr. Lauer’s film career as a writer/director/actor has taken him from the toughest of conditions (The North Pole) and the most unique (underwater, inside shark cages). He has dedicated his work confronting issues of concern to the global community in countries spanning from Australia and the South Pacific to upper reaches of Canada and down into the jungles of Central America. His most recent film documentary The Tehuacan Project, (narrated by Academy Award © winner Adrien Brody (English), Esai Morales (Spanish); Executive Produced by Brad Pitt), gave a voice to thousands of struggling deaf children in Mexico.
He received critical acclaim for his feature film Intermedio, a supernatural thriller starring Edward Furlong (Terminator 2, American History X) and Amber Benson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)as well as his multi-award winning short film, Little Cuba.
As an Emmy-nominated actor, Lauer has worked under the guidance of Oliver Stone, David Fincher and Michael Bay and co-starred on the big screen in Gunshy (Liam Neeson and Sandra Bullock), Screamers (Peter Weller), and Never On Tuesday (Peter Berg). He has also appeared in For the Boys (Bette Midler) and Oliver Stone's The Doors (Val Kilmer) and Born on the Fourth of July (Tom Cruise). He's best known to America as "Charlie" on the hit NBC comedy series Caroline in the City.
Lauer is represented at Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
